    Creasing, and not that bronzed.

I'm a little disappointed in this eye soot. I have Love Spell, which I loved immediately, and had the same high hopes for Serpent de Mer.

To be fair, darker colors tend to show creasing more than lighter colors, but I still think this is creasing more than a powder eyeshadow should-- and this photo is from AFTER I touched it up. It'll slip off immediately and begin to crease again, I'm sure. And yes, I used quality eyeshadow primer.

I also don't get the bronze tint from it like the product photos show.

It's still a pretty color though, so I'll give it 3 stars, but I'm annoyed by the creasing.

I also think the RDF eye soot needs a bigger opening to the jar. It's hard to get a fully loaded swipe of eyeshadow on your brush or finger, and then it applies unevenly.

    Hooded Lid Approved

I love how easily this applies in so many ways! I use this mostly alongside my eyeliner, but love the occasional deep monochrome smokey eye. Oily hooded eye approved

    Dry?

I can’t get it to work on me, but I’m not good at any kind of eyeshadow. Maybe with a primer and a brush instead of my fingers?

    Love it!

Love it! The color shift. The velvety texture. Ease of application. The packaging. Did not disappoint!

    Incredible

Tricky at first since no matter how thin you spread and precisely you build it on bare skin, it's going to crease. I found the best way to have this product stay in place all day is to use an eyeshadow base, powder that base and then, use the soot. It is a very beautiful and complex product I adore. I would just not bring it out on lazy make up days

    Smoky

I love this smoky purple shade in the outer corner or as a liner. It's perfect for a non-black, more natural but still striking look. The website photos are color accurate to me. (I'm excluding price from my review because I wouldn't pay $39 for a single shadow from any brand. I think the value of the sample size I got is definitely there and I'm grateful RDF offers that option.)
